Cure For Colic?

Yesterday (Saturday Sept. 19th), a lady by the name of Alisa Cray, posted the entry below on the Partners In Thoroughbreds Forum. A great many horses suffer from colic, many even die, so I thought her discovery with of great importance and should also be featured prominently on the main Partners In Thoroughbreds blog. If you are i8n any way associated with horses, you should read what she says:

“Hi! I have 2 thoroughbreds, both now 16, and 20 years young! I have been able to stop gas colicing 100% in the last year, and now have 8 thoroughbreds in my study, that have colic history, and they have not coliced since being in my program!

I am new to posting, not sure how to do this effectively, but trying to let others know about what we are doing! My hardkeeper was colicing every month, and the last attack was so bad, I thought he would die! Now, we are approaching 1 year without incident, and I am trying to help others!

I am at a horse rescue in Georgia, and we try all kinds of things to help horses survive and thrive! The barn owner suggested I try a tablespoon of Baking Soda in with my supplements to see if that stopped the colic, and it did! I guess she knows many people who take it with water when they have an upset stomach! This was news to me, but here we are 1 year later, and 9 throughbreds, including mine, have not coliced!

This is my informal study, to try and help as many horses and owners who cannot find solutions to this unpredictable health hazard! I guess this is like taking TUMS for horses! We have researched baking soda side effects, and have not found anything notable! I hope this info. will help others!! Alisa (Feel free to contact me via e mail – alisa_cray@yahoo.com for questions).”

Subsequent to the above post, Alisa sent the email copied below:

” I am humbled that you have selected this post for the main page! I was desperate to find help, ANY help, for this condition that I KNEW would eventually kill my horse! EZ Breeze has had colic surgery, 30 out of 35 feet of small intestine removed, and is also a cribber! So, if any horse was a candidate for repeated colic episodes, he was it! He has coliced all his life, and also while on the track! I want to let everyone in the industry, whether a sporthorse owner, pleasure rider, or racehorse owner, know, that this simple ingredient, when added daily to the feed or existing supplements, can effectively STOP gas colic! Colic does not take a vacation, and neither can we! It has to be given everyday:). Thank you for helping me, and EZ Breeze, let others know, what EZ has discovered for his well being!!! Happy trails, Alisa Cray, EZ Breeze, and Quinn.”
