Martin Pedroza Wins His 11th Consecutive Title

With two days left in the Fairplex Park meet 44-year-old Martin Pedroza has successfully won his 11th straight jockey championship. The native of Panama City, Panama, has ridden 40 winners through the first 13 days of the season, leaving second place contender, Alonso Quinonez, far behind with 17 wins. The apprentice Christian Santiago Reyes is third with 16. Martin Pedroza is the all-time winning-most jockey at Pomona; for the past decade he has been “King of the Bullring,” dominating the competition. In recognition of his efforts he was honored Sunday after the eighth race in special winner’s circle ceremonies as the sixth inductee into Fairplex Park’s Hall of Fame.
