A Win Eludes BDR But Sun Button Places
None of three different sets of Button Down Racing partners got their picture taken in the winners circle this weekend at Turfway Park, but the owners of Sun Button got the next best thing as their three-year-old colt out-dueled 15-1 shot Cold Feet to pick up the place money behind runaway winner Lord Dubai. The contest was a $30,000 maiden race and the feature on the nine-race card on Sunday.
“The winner was much the best tonight, but we liked the way our colt kept after it to regain second place just before the wire,” said Button Down’s president Michael Hardesty. “Hopefully he’ll move forward from here and break his maiden for a great bunch of owners.”
Both Sea Button on Friday and Brunette on Saturday had finished fifth in their respective races for Button Down, a Louisville-based syndicator, before Sun Button at least partially salvaged the weekend.
“We had over 30 owners and friends turn out for dinner and fun this weekend. A win would have made it a bit sweeter, but I think everyone had a good time,” concluded Hardesty.
