First Winner For Deputy Storm – Breaks Track Record

Twelve Pack ShellyTwelve Pack Shelly, multiple stakes winner, Deputy Storm’s first winner, set a new track record in a 10¾ length victory in the first 2-year-old race at Laurel this year. Making her initial start April 8, the filly ran the 4&frac12 furlongs in :50.83, destroying the previous record by more than a second. Finishing third, a neck behind the runner-up, was another Deputy Storm filly, daughter Dylan the Deputy.

The filly immediately gained a six-length lead and increased her margin with each stride on her way to her easy victory.

Twelve Pack Shelly is owned by her trainer John E. Salzman Jr., Danny Divver, and George Greenwalt. The Pennsylvania-bred filly was bred by Sycamore Hall Farm. She is the third foal of So Smashing, by Two Punch.

A two-time stakes winner, Deputy Storm Deputy Storm, a nine-year-old by Forestry out of two-time Canadian champion Deputy Jane West, by Silver Deputy, stands for a mere $2,000 at Richard Golden and Dr. Tom Bowman’s Northview Stallion Station near Chesapeake City, Md. He has 27 two-year-olds in his first crop of racing age.
