Great Weekend For Class Racing Stable Partnerships

Monterey Jazz Wins The American Handicap
Monterey Jazz Wins The American Handicap
Class Racing Stable racing partnerships had three runners and three winners over the holiday weekend. July 3rd saw two runners and two winners at Ruidoso Downs, and July 4th, Monterey Jazz won the Group 2 $150K American Handicap at Hollywood Park. The two Ruidoso Downs thoroughbred partnerships were All Yours Baby and To The Penny. All Yours Baby battled gamely to win an allowance special weight by a head, and To The Penny dueled to deep stretch to win a 6 furlong allowance race.

But the Class Racing star had to be their old favorite Monterey Jazz. Ridden by Tyler Baze, he took a commanding lead early in the backstretch and ran on impressively to win by 3¼ lengths. Trainer Craig Dollase had also entered the horse in July 5th’s Triple Bend Handicap, but he explained, straight faced that he had discussed the entries with Montery Jazz and the horse had elected to go for the American Handicap. A shrewd decision!
