Grevelis Racing Partnerships Report From Canterbury Park

Grevelis Racing sent us this report on Claiming Crown Day from beautiful Canterbury Park.

Fizzy Pop

Fizzy picked up a big win Saturday going wire to wire to pick up the winner’s share of the $16,000 Claiming race. When no one moved to the lead, jockey Dean Butler took hold, brought Fizzy to the front and the rail, slowed the pace and had enough to hold off the field to win by a head over stable mate Beau Named Sue. Fizzy came back well and looks to get one more start at Canterbury before the move to Remington.

I Am Woman

I Am Woman had yet another tough go, this time at Monticello. She was well placed early, but was forced wide and just didn’t have enough to close the deal. She’ll get some class relief and stay in NY State for a while looking to get back on track against weaker competition than in PA.

As Canterbury heads into its last month, our thoughts start to turn to Remington and Hawthorne and the formation of a few more groups to claim some horses and get racing! The format is going to be pretty simple, once we raise $20,000 we’ll be looking for a mid level ($12,500ish) young claimer that we can cash some checks, take some photos and hopefully move up the ladder. Ideally we’d like to keep shares at 5% ($1,000), but we may go a couple of 2.5% ($500). Preference, however, will be given to larger purchases.
