Grevelis Racing Stable Had A Busy Weekend
Fizzy Pop
Sadly, Fizzy Pop was claimed from Grevelis Racing on Friday at Remington. He broke alertly then settled into 9th place around the first turn over the Remington turf course. Dean Butler then started moving Fizzy slowly through the field down the backside. As they moved through the turn in the mile race, Dean angled Fiz to the outside and got ready for the drive when the field fanned out and he was blocked. Once Fizzy unwound, he moved easily into third, but was 4 behind the two leaders, almost two ahead of the fourth place finisher. He returned to be unsaddled, then was lead away to his new barn.
Fizzy’s final line for Grevelis in 18 months: 16 Starts – 3 win; 3 place; 5 show $47,424 earned.
I Am Woman tried to bounce back after her lingering illness at Saratoga in a $10,000 claiming race. She started out in post 8 and spent the first lap trailing the field about 10 lengths off, but on the backside she shook alive spending almost the entire last quarter, which she paced in under :29 for the first time in a long time, parked either three or two wide while rallying for fourth. So, although it was only a 4th place finish, it was a very encouraging 4th considering her movement way up the class ladder for her return. A move to the inside after this tightener could be just the answer for the filly next out.
