Keen Lassie Breezes Seven Eighths, Debut Approaches

Prime Equine Racing, T. Kurguz & J. Ricciardi’s Keen Lassie pumped it up a notch this past Tuesday, working in company with another Ron Dandy trainee, covering seven eighths of a mile in 1:32 flat over a muddy track. Once again, jockey Josiah Hampshire, Jr. was her pilot.

Managing partner, Renee Lee Doyle, was both pleased and impressed with the move, “Lassie is right on target for her 2009 debut at Atlantic City. Today’s workout proved to us that she will be entering the race as fit as possible.”

Keen Lassie worked alongside stablemate Dehonourable, with the three year old gelding breaking off approximately five lengths ahead of the chestnut mare. As they proceeded down the backside and through the far turn, Keen Lassie gradually made up ground on Dehonourable. By the time they passed the wire, Keen Lassie had drawn even with the gelding and continued to pass him as they galloped out.

The Atlantic City meet opens on April 16th.
