Monterey Jazz Wins For Class RacingClass Racing’s old favorite and multiple graded stakes winner, Monterey Jazz, broke a 15-year-old Hollywood Park turf record when he clocked a mile in 1:32.59 to win a a $58,400 allowance race for his partners at Hollywood Park on Sunday. Ridden by Tyler Baze and trained by Craig Dollase, Monterey Jazz took an early lead and set the pace for the race. He extended his lead in the first turn and increased his advantage down the back stretch. He was uncontested in the home stretch and ran on well under a hand ride to win by 3¾. His share of the prize was $34,800.

Finishing second in that race was another partnership horse, Team Valor International’s Becrux (ITY), trained by John Sadler and ridden by Rafael Bejarano, who was three deep in the stretch and ran on well to gain the place.
