Prime Equine Runners Prepare For 2009 Debuts

Prime Equine Racing, T. Kurguz & J. Ricciardi’s Keen Lassie, a winner of two in a row over the Suffolk Downs turf course in 2008, arrived at Philadelphia Park last Saturday to prepare for an anticipated debut at Atlantic City Racecourse sometime during their 16 day meet, which is slated to begin on April 16th. Keen Lassie will be trained under the watchful eye of Ronald Dandy.

“She deserves a shot at Philly Park,” states managing partner, Renee Doyle. “We had some bad luck with her towards the end of the Suffolk meet last year. Once that turf course gets wet during the late summer and early fall, it takes forever to dry out. Lassie is such a big mare, she would just sink and get bogged down running over it. She is a classy mare – her allowance win at Saratoga is proof of that. We have a complete understanding of the training program that she excels with now.”

Keen Lassie spent the last two months of 2008 at Ms. Doyle’s facility in Massachusetts, enjoying some well deserved rest and relaxation. She was then sent to Quiet Woman Farm Training Center a few days after the first of the year to begin jogging in their indoor training track.

“Those two months of down time at the farm did her a world of good. She needed a mental break towards the end of last season. She was kicking the barn down by the time she returned to Quiet Woman Farm. She will come into this turf season in better shape, fitness wise, than last year.”

Another Prime Equine runner, homebred two year old colt White Thunder, is currently in training at Quiet Woman Farm’s Ocala location, Cardinal Training Center. By Wiseman’s Ferry, out of the Pentelicus mare, Azorean Miss, White Thunder is proving popular with all of trainers who have stopped by to inspect him.

“He is developing perfectly. He has a tremendous amount of intelligence and common sense to go along with raw talent. He has A+ conformation and is as solid as any two year old I have ever laid my eyes upon. We are extremely confident that he will develop into a first class race horse.”

Ms. Doyle reports that White Thunder is currently 62% sold out. And, she also reports that the offering on this colt will close on May 31st, 2009, regardless of whether or not the colt has completely sold out. A 2% buy-in to the colt costs $950, which covers the cost of purchasing the share and all maintenance fees associated with ownership of the share for one year from the date of purchase.
